Our family has been farming for generations, and around 2003 we began to look for new crop ideas to take advantage of our rich soils and community of family farms. As we looked at all of the opportunities to produce quality food for consumers, we were intrigued with the rising popularity of edamame! Traditionally grown and eaten in Asian countries, there was almost no history of edamame production in the United States. We discovered virtually all of the edamame consumed in America was imported. We are the worlds leading producer of soybeans, so we decided to learn to produce edamame.
In 2005 we formed the American Sweet Bean Company with the mission to grow, process, and sell America's finest edamame. All of our edamame is non-genetically modified, and beginning in 2011 some of our crop will also be certified organic. We produce our beans with the latest and best practices in sustainable agriculture, safe manufacturing, and quality assurance methods. We are so fanatical about quality that we have even developed our own seed varieties!
Our beans are sold to retail grocers, food service providers, and food manufacturers. We also have select opportunities for exporting our crop and we are excited to be developing a world market for American edamame!
Americans love edamame - and it is an important part of our healthy diet. We love to grow this crop here in the US, bringing our family farms and community to the process of helping feed America. We hope you enjoy our product - we grow these beans for you!
